It was a day like no other. We arrived at MD Anderson around 7:30 am did paperwork, got vitals, saw the doctor, did lab work and got a chest X-ray. That was done about Noon. The doctor was not what I had expected. We waited for him for close to an hour and when he came in he didn't even apologize for our wait. He was very cut and dry, just like we were any other case. I know I'm nothing special and he does this every day, all day long...but, we don't. So, I was expecting him to be a little bit more personable. We have an appointment to see him again on Friday and go over the labs and CT scan. Maybe things will go differently.
After we got lab work done and chest X-ray, we went to the first floor and ate at the cafe. I needed food at that point. Then we went back to the hotel and relaxed for a couple hours. We had to be back at the hospital at 5:20 for the CT scan. We arrived there along with dozens of other people. This is where the day really took its toll on me. I had to drink contrast, then I went to another room and put on scrubs, went to another room with a lot of the same people I saw previously while drinking the contrast and had an IV put in. I then had to drink a little more contrast...just couldn't get enough! Hahaha. And then came the actual scan. It took about 20 minutes and then I was free to go and have the IV removed, change clothes, and go back to the hotel. I did not like this part at all. We were there from 5:00 until 9:00.
Aaron and I are waiting for the room service we ordered to arrive. This will be the second meal I've had today. Tomorrow will be better. We are planning to go to one of the museums that are close by. Not sure which one, but, I know we will enjoy it.
Thank you again for all your prayers. We are very thankful for them. The Lord has blessed us on this trip with being able to relax when we can, being seen by the doctor today, going to the zoo yesterday, and what ever he has in store for us the rest of our time here. We are truly blessed.

I'm sorry the doc seemed like a cold man. Maybe beneath that mantle he really cares. More important than good bedside manners are his skills, knowledge and experience so don't let his personality discourage you. I pray for a good Friday appointment. Meanwhile I'm glad you will get to enjoy the sights tomorrow. Prayers for your precious boy too. Hugs. Miiko
You are in our prayers. The Houston Museums are very nice. I pray that you and Aaron have a restful, blessed day together with lots of good food!
Sincerely,
Ann
If you get this, holler at us :) Wondering what the schedule is..and if there is anything we can do!
