Second Opinion

Aaron and I along with the rest of my family have decided that it is in our best interest to consider getting a second opinion. Please note that I have said "consider". This is something that we must pray earnestly about. Should the Lord decide this is His will, we would like to move quickly on the process. However, we must understand that the Lord may have put us with the right doctor now and this is where He wants us to be. I am asking that you please pray with us about this. Two of the places we are considering are Duke University Hospital and Univ. Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Also, this Sunday, one of the owners of the company I work for is coming over. His wife passed away a little over a year ago with brain cancer and we are hoping to get more information concerning getting second opinions and what we might expect in this process. He was very instrumental in his wife's care and did an excellent job of being her advocate with doctors. I would consider asking if he would help us in the same manner. That may be a lot to ask.

I ask that you please pray with us on this matter. And, thank you all who are praying for us. I cannot tell you just how much we appreciate it.

I am a big fan of second opinions as men, even doctors, are fallible and fallen. My friend Debbie has been getting treatment at Duke for brain cancer for quite some time. They are some of the best in the country when it comes to cancer. She was at UAB too and decided Duke was a better choice. Just my two cents. As always, I am praying for you and this new consideration.

We have been praying for you and your family and will continue to do so. A second opinion seems like a good idea, Shawna. Love, Miiko
