I have yet to figure out why in our churches; and even by those we would consider Christians we have people who try to douse the fire of other believers. At church Sunday morning a clip was shown of a preacher named David Ring. In the clip he was talking about Peter getting out of the boat to meet Jesus on the water. The other disciples were telling him not to...and the phrase "Don't go overboard" was used in his illustration. At times, I feel like even, some in my church body are saying to some "don't go overboard". I feel at times like some of us have "gotten over God" and we are comfortable with that. We don't want anyone getting overly excited because we aren't. Why? Why should we ever get comfortable in our relationship with God? If anything, we should be getting stirred up...learning more about Him should get us excited. Many people use the term "on fire". I think that is a good term to use because fire spreads. What are your thoughts?
** When I said "comfortable in our relationship with God"...what I was meaning was a point where we aren't learning new things or seeing the things He is showing us.
