What Have We Come To
Yes, this is a post where I'm going to vent. I took my car to have it washed and detailed today. As I was waiting in line I read the signs stating what services they offered and the prices and then the other sign that said "Not responsible for belongings left in car". Ok, I can understand that... they are removing any liability from themselves...most companies do this. However...I then read the second sign "Please remove any valuables, loose change, CD's, game systems from your car." Wow, they're getting specific. Then the next sign... and then I have to get out of my car to go pay and I was walking up a hallway where there are signs posted above you telling you the exact same thing over and over. I know why they do this...this is a company that doesn't hire employees expecting them to be there 5 years down the road...they are lucky if they show up the next day. And I'm sure "background check" is not in their vocabulary. But, with all the signs and warning that your "things" really aren't safe; is that not just their way of condoning theft? Yes, my car got washed, and no, nothing was taken (I put it all in the glove compartment and locked it). Not even the gospel tracks that looked like wadded up $100 were taken. It is a true testament to how sinful and depraved this world is, when we tell hundreds of people (because this particular place stays busy) "we know people steal; it happens here; please don't tempt us by leaving your stuff in your car." Errr.
