Last week I posted a prayer request concerning something that the Lord was leading me to do. I would like to update and ask for your continued prayer with this. On Friday I went to the retirement facility where I had called and spoke with the woman who runs the place. While I was waiting for her I sat down in what appeared to the the sitting room. There were about 8 people sitting and listening to a gospel program on the radio. One woman smiled a lot and seemed interested in who I was. I tried talking to her, but, unfortunately, when she spoke she would use words that didn't make sense. Needless to say our conversation was limited but I could tell that she wanted to converse. I did the best I could. I introduced myself to another woman sitting on a couch who informed me that her daughter visits her...but she's happier when she doesn't. I wasn't sure what to say to that. Another woman sat down beside me and I introduced myself. I learned a little bit about why she was there and what she likes to do. After about 10 minutes the woman I had been waiting for came in. Her first question was if I had had experience working with the elderly. I have no experience and have only visited nursing homes when I was younger...that was only a few times with a church group. I thought to myself "strike one". Then she asked what made me want to come visit... I admit I was a little hesitant at first...started to cry a little, but then I told her point blank that I felt that the Lord had led me to start visiting. She was pleased with my answer and said that it was a good reason. We kept talking about what I might expect from the residents and when/how often I would come. God has flung the door open and my first official visit is this Friday afternoon. My request is that the Lord gives me the words to say; that I might be a blessing and show Christ to those I talk to; and that I don't cry EVERY time I go.

I think your big heart is exactly why God has called you to do this. Be content to talk, listen or cry with whomever God brings to you. My prayers are with you!!
You won't cry every time, old folks are like little children, sometimes they say and do the funniest things. I'm sure God will provide you something to smile about when you visit.
